Ethan Bordman Named Winner of Lawline’s Faculty Award

At the third annual Lawline.com Faculty Awards Event, I was one of five attorneys honored for their contributions to continuing legal education.  The event was held on November 17, 2011 at the Union Square Ballroom here in New York City.  Lawline acknowledged five attorneys in the following categories:

  • Actively Learning
  • Exuding Optimism
  • Driven to Find a Better Way
  • Seeking Creative Solutions
  • Taking Time to Help Others

In October 2011, I was fortunate to be nominated for the Seeking Creative Solutions award based on my presentation, “Script to Screen:  The Legal Issues in Creating a Film.”  In this talk, I covered topics that arise in producing a movie among them copyright issues, optioning a script, state and federal tax incentives, union talent contracts and distribution of the film once completed.

Lawline.com described the Seeking Creative Solutions category in the following manner:

“The belief that there is always one right answer to a problem is one of the greatest impediments to creative thinking. Often, the best solution to a problem is neither the most conventional nor the most practical one. Encouraging creativity, innovation, and the generation of new and unique ideas can lead to unexpected and extraordinary results.”

As an attorney, particularly in the entertainment industry, you have to develop creative approaches to resolving complex issues. I am flattered that Lawline.com acknowledged me for my contribution and especially grateful to everyone who offered their support and voted.

Thank you.
